Men's Basketball April 05, 2022
The eight-team field for the 2023 Maui Jim Maui Invitational was revealed Tuesday, with Tennessee set to make its fourth all-time appearance at the event.

The Vols will be joined at the 40th annual tournament by Gonzaga, Kansas, Marquette, Purdue, Syracuse, UCLA and host Chaminade at the Lahaina Civic Center in Maui, Hawaii, from Nov. 20-22, 2023.

Each team will play three games at the event. Matchups will be announced at a later date.

Tennessee is a combined 14-20 all-time against the other seven teams in the 2023 Maui Invitational field. During the Rick Barnes era, the Vols have played Gonzaga (three times), Kansas (three times), Purdue (twice) and Chaminade (once).

Tennessee last appeared in the Maui Invitational in 2016, Barnes' second season in Knoxville. The Vols dropped close games to Wisconsin and Oregon before defeating Chaminade and claiming a seventh-place finish.

The Vols also finished seventh in 2011, losing close games to Duke and Memphis and defeating Chaminade. In 2004, Tennessee finished fourth—defeating Stanford in its first game before falling to North Carolina and then Texas.
